In the summer of 2009, the Council of Chevy Chase View requested that Montgomery County conduct a pedestrian safety study at the intersection of Cedar Lane and Summit Avenue. The speed study indicated the 85th percentile speed is about 38 – 39 MPH and ADT is about 12,300 vehicles per day on Cedar Lane.

Also included here is the Montgomery County study requested by Parkwood Residents Association in 2007 for the traffic operations and pedestrian safety on Cedar Lane. The signs and markers will be installed on the islands and curb extensions to alert motorists as well as the snow plows. The islands and curb extensions are used for narrowing the travel lanes for speed control and reducing the crossing distance for pedestrian safety.
